Food Prices Rising, Developing Countries Most Affected

The UN Food and Agriculture Organization is warning that rising food prices — largely the result of increased demand for “feed” crops for biofuels development and meat production — are putting low-income countries’ food security at risk. The effects of climate change will intensify the situation. Developing country NGOs are organizing in support of more equitable global food policies and warning about the consequences of the biofuels mini-boom.
