Executive Director, Mia MacDonald, attends Expo Milano 2015 on October 16th, World Food Day.

October 16^th is World Food Day.

Executive Director, Mia MacDonald, of Brighter Green, will be at Expo Milano to commemorate the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations‘ (FAO) 70th Anniversary. They will address the theme for World Food Day 2015, “Social Protection and Agriculture: Breaking the Cycle of Rural Poverty”, and how this links with the UN theme for Expo 2015, “The Zero Hunger Challenge · United for a sustainable world”.

On the occasion of World Food Day, a coalition of environmental and indigenous groups denounces undue corporate influence over the UN Committee on World Food Security. The Committee on Food Security (CFS) has seen increasing private sector involvement in recent years, with detrimental impacts on food security, human rights and environmental sustainability.
