Brighter Green colleagues from Maasai (pastoral) organizations in Kenya are set to embark on a study tour. A six-person, gender-balanced delegation will travel February 10-12 to eco-lodge Basecamp Masai Mara in southern Kenya to exchange experiences and learning. The delegation will meet members of the Maasai community working with and for Basecamp, with a focus on sustainable enterprises, ecotourism, community engagement, land use policies, and the practical use of green energy for businesses, homes, and schools. The objective of the visit is for peer-to-peer exchange on environmentally and socially sustainable and equitable endeavors that can inform and encourage additional work by all parties in a “green” direction. Brighter Green, Tribal Link, and Basecamp facilitated the exchange, with Basecamp agreeing generously to host. A report on the delegation’s visit will be completed. Check back for updates on that, and the concrete outcomes of this experiential learning.
