Executive Director, Mia MacDonald, along with Gene Baur of Farm Sanctuary, have written a third op-ed together called “In order to ‘feed the world’ we must stop factory farming our animals” in the Hill. Their last op-ed was about the destruction of Hurricane Florence, to people, animals, and the environment. In this one, they reflect on the damage that Hurricane Florence caused as Hurricane Michael slammed into Florida. They also touch on the IPCC report on the environment, which shows that extreme storms like Florence and Michael are likely to continue. Addressing meat consumption and animal agriculture, is essential when working to reduce greenhouse gases. Animal agriculture as a whole must change. Governments should take steps to internalize the costs of meat production, including to the global climate and end tax and other incentives for growing feed crops.
