Our colleagues at the Good Food Fund in China have written about the ongoing fires that are being set in the Amazon Rainforest and the links to consumption in China. You can read the article here (written in Chinese, but can easily be translated into English in your browser). Much of what is grown in the Amazon is being exported to China. Hong Kong and the mainland of China are the main export markets for Brazilian beef and Brazil is the largest trading country for China’s imported soybeans. (Soybeans are the main source of feed for industrial farming, especially chickens and pigs.) Learn more about the link between Brazil and China (and the U.S.) in our discussion paper called “The Triangle.”
