Associate Wanqing Zhou was recently published in China Dialogue in an article titled “Swine fever highlights need to reform meat production.” Many provinces in China have been dealing with African Swine Fever (ASF), which is a contagious disease killing pigs. This breakout is intensified by the rise of intensive farming in China, as well as growing issues with antibiotic resistance. It’s important to reexamine how meat is being produced and consumed, and both lower this and to look for alternative methods.
