Isis Alvarez

Isis Alvarez is a Colombian biologist with an MSc in Environment and Resource Management, with over fifteen years of experience in the environmental non-profit sector globally. Her work focuses on the social aspects of biodiversity conservation, climate change, and sustainable development, with particular interest in community-based management and gender issues. From 2012 to 2020, she represented civil society through the United Nations civil society mechanism, advocating for women’s rights and sustainable food systems in various environment-related policy processes, including the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the United Nations Environment Assemblies (UNEA). Isis has coordinated numerous campaigns, programs, alliances, and networks locally and internationally.
