Rachael Helschein was a Research and Communications Intern at Brighter Green during the summer of 2011. She received a B.A. in Environmental Studies and minor in Math and Science Education from the University of California, Santa Barbara. She also received a Master's degree in Environmental Conservation Education from NYU in December 2011. She is interested in climate change communications, sustainable food systems, and social justice issues, with a particular focus on Latin American countries and their indigenous communities. Rachael grew up between Mexico, California, and Maui, where her passion for the natural world was fostered. After receiving her Master's degree, she moved back to Maui and worked as an environmental educator, yoga instructor, and freelance writer on environmental issues. She currently runs her own Wellness business in her home country of Mexico.
