Whitney Hoot was a Research and Communications Intern at Brighter Green during the 2009-10 academic year. She graduated from Barnard College of Columbia University in May 2010, with a degree in Sociology and Environmental Science. After working for Brighter Green over the summer as a consultant, she moved to Pohnpei, Micronesia to teach English to high school students with WorldTeach. In 2011, Whitney worked for the International Organization for Migration and ran a climate change adaptation and disaster preparedness education and awareness program. She returned in 2012, and has worked for World Wildlife Fund and the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center. She is interested in food and climate change, indigenous rights, wildlife conservation, and animal welfare. Whitney is currently working towards a Master's degree at the University of Maryland in conservation biology and sustainable development.
