Green Energy Initiative: Kenya

Brighter Green, with partner Simba Maasai Outreach Organization (SIMOO), is working to expand community-based solar and wind energy sources among Maasai communities in Kenya. This project aims to provide non fossil-fuel based energy to power the homes, health centers and community facilities of the Maasai, who like pastoralists around the world, are disproportionately experiencing the effects of climate change.

Read the full report of a peer-to-peer learning visit between pastoral community activists and one radio reporter who travelled to Basecamp Maasai Mara in southern Kenya to exchange experiences of sustainable tourism practices, using green energy and practicing water conservation, developing microenterprises, addressing HIV/AIDS and achieving gender equality.
